Loraxichthys lexa : ウィキペディア英語版 | Loraxichthys lexa
''Loraxichthys lexa'' is a species of armored catfish only known from streams and rivers that feed into the Huallaga River near Tingo María, Leoncio Prado Province, Peru. This species grows to a length of SL. This species is the only known member of its genus.〔Salcedo, N.J. (2013): (Description of ''Loraxichthys lexa'', new genus and species (Siluriformes: Loricariidae) from the Río Huallaga Basin, central Peru, with notes on the morphology of the enigmatic ''Lipopterichthys carrioni'' Norman, 1935. ) ''Zootaxa, 3640 (4): 557–571.''〕 == Etymology == The genus name is derived from the fictional name "Lorax" and the Greek "ichthys" meaning "fish". The specific epithet honors then Charleston College student Alexandra Keane for her activism for sustainability. The Lorax was a fictional character created by Dr. Seuss who had tried to protect the environment from industrial devastation by speaking for the things that couldn't speak. Thus ''Loraxichthys'' is meant to convey the idea of a "fish that speaks for other fishes".〔
